DYT 300 Large Marine Surface Cleaning Boat
The DYT 300 is a hydraulically powered, air-cooled, catamaran-structured work machine. We categorize marine cleaning boats that are 15 meters or longer as large marine cleaning boats. The DYT 300 features a catamaran structure, with its hull made of steel and the superstructure crafted from aluminum. Different material options can be used depending on preferences.
A working model of the DYT 300, named İstaç 1, is currently in operation in Istanbul. This marine cleaning boat is equipped with dual 360-degree Azimuth thrusters, which are entirely hydraulically driven. To generate hydraulic power, the boat is equipped with two diesel engines. Additionally, a single diesel-electric generator is used for electricity production. All diesel engines are air-cooled, meaning the boat has no seawater intake system.
As is well known, marine diesel engines typically require seawater as a coolant. Variable machine loads increase the operating cooling water temperature, commonly referred to as overheating, in marine diesel engines compared to land-based engines. Furthermore, marine diesel engines are designed and used to operate for extended periods at maximum RPM and load, making them dependent on seawater. However, with the DYT 300 design, we have completely eliminated reliance on seawater.
Marine cleaning boats, sea sweepers, and vessels tasked with responding to oil spills and other harmful substance leaks must operate in polluted and debris-filled waters where ordinary boats do not venture and would prefer not to. This environment often causes blockages in the condensers (heat exchangers) of these vessels, such as intercoolers, transmission condensers, and auxiliary condensers. In the case of oil spill response vessels (OSRVs), hydrocarbons like oil can adhere to the cooling water circuits, significantly reducing cooling efficiency. Many response vessels become inoperable during missions for this reason.
Deep water and shallow water intake valves are not always reliable under such conditions. This is precisely why the DYT 300 Sea Sweeper is equipped with an air-cooled engine, allowing it to operate independently of particles, plastics, debris, and other challenges in the water.
Furthermore, the corrosive properties of seawater can cause wear, rust, and erosion in even the highest quality condensers, heat exchangers, and coolers, often leading to rust and leaks in the engine room. In an air-cooled engine, these issues are entirely avoided. Bilge water accumulation, leaking shaft seals, and seawater leaks are completely eliminated.
Operating an air-cooled diesel engine on water requires precise HVAC, thermal management, and optimization. The DYT 300 has proven itself over the years as a unique and original sea sweeper in its region and globally.
The DYT 300 Sea Sweeper offers exceptional maneuverability for collecting marine debris and waste, thanks to its Azimuth thrusters.
Equipped with three marine cleaning conveyor belts, it is a self-discharging sea sweeper capable of efficient and independent operation.
