About Ruby Oil Skimmer

Ruby Oil Skimmer is a Spill Buster oleophilic oil skimmer manufactured for mechanical recovery of oil floating on water. Oil sticks to the skimmer module and is collected in the sump, then pumped to the desired location.

Optional Interchangeable Modules

Ruby Oil Skimmer can be fitted, with a single power pack and pump, with three different skimmer heads: Brush Module, Disc Module and Drum Module. Changing the head can be done easily by one person.

Brush Module: rotating brush elements sweep oil from the surface; well suited to thicker, more viscous oil layers.
Disc Module: oil adhering to rotating discs is removed by wiper blades; effective on thin, low-viscosity oil films.
Drum Module: oil adhering to a rotating drum surface is scraped off into the sump; suited to medium-viscosity oils.

Why Ruby Oil Skimmer?

Being able to switch between three skimmer head types on a single diesel hydraulic power pack and pump lets field crews match the head to the spill type (thick or thin oil layer), swapping modules alone and without extra equipment. The marine grade aluminum body and four lifting points make the unit easy to transport and position on a vessel deck or along the shoreline.

Ruby or Turquoise?

The Spill Buster family also includes the Turquoise Oil Skimmer, which runs two skimmer modules at the same time. On the Turquoise model the skimmer head weighs 45 kg and two modules work simultaneously; dimensions, capacity, pump and power pack specs are the same as Ruby.
